This iconic car was born in France in 1937, although its production was stopped with the outbreak of World War II, and the prototypes ended up hidden for years to prevent the Nazis from copying the idea. After the war at its presentation at the 1948 Paris motor show, journalists of the time, with some mischief, asked, “Does it include a can opener?”
The story goes on and on. It was so inexpensive that the first prototype had only one headlight and no locks. Who would want to steal it? Its design was intended to meet the needs of the rural population, although it ended up becoming a very urbanite car and an icon of ‘May ’68’. Since then, it has been linked to the hippie movement and the Power flower. Here our most pop tribute to this design that we first launched in 1996 and, like the Dos Caballos itself, is still rolling around the world.”
